Women’s Yoga Fusion | Mondays 7:30PM-8:30PM @ BSPC Physio & Pilates Exercise studio (Book your mat here)

In this class, Asanas (body postures) from Traditional Yoga, which are the most beneficial to women’s nature, paired with Pilates techniques are handpicked and combined strategically for the class’ flow. Targeted benefits include hormonal balancing, prenatal practice, postpartum reintegrating, relief from menopause, as well as strength and flexibility. This is a holistic practice that includes Pranayama (breathwork) and Asanas (body postures), that work together to give the maximum benefit. The practice closes with an ultimately relaxing Yoga Nidra, or simply with silence and space to just be.

The Tree of Yoga

Traditional Yoga with Meditation & Yoga Nidra | Wednesdays 7:00PM-8:15PM @ BSPC Physio & Pilates Exercise studio (Book your mat here)

In this class, we will practice in the most traditional style of Yoga, from which we will embrace the essence of Yoga, initiating movements from the inside out, waking up the energetic, emotional and mental body, with elements from the ancient art of Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga. This is a holistic practice that includes Pranayama (breathwork) and Asanas (body postures), with Elli guiding us through the benefits of each Asana, explaining what’s happening in our body in real time. The practice closes with an ultimately relaxing Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra, which means “yogic sleep” in Sanskrit, is a deeply restorative meditation-based Yoga technique, done lying down, which gives the opportunity to ground, revitalize and restore physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You will be guided and supported to experience an alert, yet profoundly relaxed state. It is said 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is as restorative as 3 hours sleep! The science of Yoga Nidra involves a change in the pattern of your brain waves, in particular the alpha and theta waves, which will be trained during each session. With consistent practice, the altered brainwave function ultimately leads to a stress-free life and a liberated way of being.

Healing Indian Mantras and melodies of Indian singing bowls will be guiding us through relaxation. This practice is highly recommended for those suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, trauma and fatigue.

In one or two classes monthly, we will practice in the ancient form of the eight-fold path of Yoga (Ashtanga*) that includes Asanas (body postures), Pranayama (breathwork), practices for the mind including withdrawal of the senses, single-pointed awareness, followed by meditation and a state of bliss, making this a work-out, and most importantly a work-in. The physical practice is a more static practice, with asanas held for longer time intervals (from 15” to 2′), with flow elements during warm-up and among asanas. The benefits of each Asana will be described to us while we practice, explaining what’s happening in our body in real time. Wisdom of the Yoga Sutras, the “spine” of Yoga, will always be guiding us during class, with Elli enlightening us about their meaning and application in our everyday life. This practice is recommended for those looking to sculpt body mind and spirit holistically, looking to take their practice to deeper levels and it is exceptional for those that wish to still their mind inside an ever busy lifestyle.

*Ashtanga Yoga is the classical Indian ancient Yoga practice that heals and strengthens the body, whilst calming the mind. It is based on the Yoga Sutras, created thousands of years ago and recorded prior to 400CE by Sage Patanjali. The Sutras are the guidelines on how to practice Yoga. Ashtanga means “eight limbs” in Sanskrit, referring to Yama (moral principles), Niyama (personal disciplines), Asana (postures), Pranayama (breathing), Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses), Dharana (single-pointed concentration), Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (salvation), as the eight-fold path of Yoga. Ashtanga is one of the most traditional practices and is the authentic basis of every Yoga genre.

Meditation is one of the most natural and rewarding human activities. It gives direct, intuitive insight of higher, profound realities, and is a cornerstone of true spirituality. It also brings rest, balance, rejuvenation in body and mind, and ever-growing inner peace.

At the end of the Yoga class, we will meditate in various ways, all stemming from the various Yoga traditions and schools and their teachings, including mental exercises, guided imagery, positive affirmations and Mantras, to help us cleanse, clear unhelpful patterns, and elevate our conscious state of awareness. After a short session of a balancing Pranayma (breathwork), unique styles like Chakra meditation, Ashtanga’s Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) and Dharana (single-pointed concentration) techniques, Tantra and Kundalini inspired methods, will be explored to help us understand “the act of experiencing or observing and then comprehending through consciousness.” You’ll release stress, still your mind and find a deeper inner peace to your way of life. Beautiful spurs of gratitude, inspiration and serenity can all be side-effects of this practice.

Both new and experienced meditators will benefit from this class. All are welcome.

Elli’s classes weave strength and balance, with a practice that awakens the body, while teaching the mind to relax and let go, with patience and discipline which comes from the heart. For Elli, Yoga is therapy. It is a way to meet one’s self, heal one’s self, grow, and transcend. Her teaching techniques address body, mind and spirit, unfolding gradually all layers (Koshas) of one’s being. Elli’s goal is to provide Yoga instruction and help guide everyone, through practice and theory. She believes that everyone is their own teacher and healer, something reflected in her practice, where she strives to be the mediator to help her students find and nurture their, sometimes neglected, natural abilities. For it is each of us that make changes happen within us. You are your own teacher, you will be mindfully making the connection between your mind, body and spirit, not just during your Yoga practice, but in your every day; as Elli’s mantra puts it:  “You are Yoga”.

Private Yoga Therapy Sessions

To maximize the benefits and to reap the fruits of our efforts faster, Elli recommends the modality of private yoga sessions. Such was the traditional style of teaching Yoga from the ancient times; one teacher and one student. In this way, teacher and student develop a deeper, more intimate connection, communication and understanding. From Elli’s experience, the difference between bigger classes and private lessons is significant. Progress is much better, more holistic and personalized to yourself. You will find that the space created in a private yoga lesson will help you be able to connect and understand with more ease your own self- body, mind and spirit.
The content of each class is always tailored around you, your needs and your aspirations. All the techniques that will be used follow the core practices of Yoga (asanas/poses, pranayama/breathwork, meditation and relaxation). For further info please refer to the ‘About Yoga’ section.
